Building Brand Awareness

Building Brand Awareness

Brand awareness is crucial to any business, defined as "the extent to which consumers are familiar with the distinctive qualities of a particular brand of goods or services." By building your brand awareness, you are building your reputation within your community. This is a huge step in gaining new and repeat customers for your business and standing out from your competition. So how do you build brand awareness?

Consistency

One of the most important parts of brand awareness is staying consistent across all platforms. No matter where they are displayed, your business’s name, address, website URL, and phone number should be listed in the same way. This applies to everything from your social media profiles and your Google listing all the way down to your printed materials, like business cards and advertisements. For example, say your business is listed as “Flowers by Jane” on Facebook, but your Google My Business listing is under “Jane’s Flowers.” This becomes problematic for search engines, which will consider these as two different businesses, and could result in customers not being able to find you. Take this into account!

Social Media

In today’s world, it’s important for you to have a presence on social media. Posting regularly builds your brand’s reputation and helps consumers trust your business. Make sure you’re also frequently interacting with your customers on social media! Customers love hearing back from brands, so if someone has a question, be sure to answer it in a reasonable amount of time. This will help cement a long-lasting relationship between you and your customers.

Advertising

The goal of brand awareness is to make your business as recognizable as possible to your potential customers. This means getting your products and logo in front of them as often as you possibly can. Advertising is a great place to start. Whether this is on social media, in your local newspaper, or on a billboard, make sure your logo is displayed prominently so it becomes instantly recognizable to potential customers. All of your ads should be cohesive with each other and your website so that customers are never confused as to whose brand they’re viewing. By using the same kinds of images, fonts, colors, and logos across all marketing efforts, you’ll significantly build your brand awareness.

Establishing your brand isn’t easy, but it’s an important step for any business! By increasing brand awareness, you’ll end up growing your customer base in the long run.
